Owen's Beach in Point Defiance Park is located in Tacoma,WA. You can hike there from the parking lot or drive directly to the beach. Along the shore there is a level paved bike path, and easy access for wheel chairs too. Many picnic tables with barbeque stations and a covered pavillion if it rains. Many locals bring their dogs, big and small and enjoy throwing driftwood sticks and balls into the water for thier pets to retrieve. Summer time it's a nice place to sunbathe and swim, or go beach combing. It is open all year. Edwin Ferris in 1903 built the original Boat House Pavillion but it was torn down and replaced with another boat house, where you can buy fishing tackle and moore your boat inside the boat hangers. Mt. Rainier is visible from the beach. Super place to play for the entire family.
